I running KiCad on a MacBook (macOS Sierra 10.12.6) with an external
display, using KiCad 4.0.7.

I'm following the tutorial KICAD LIKE A PRO and am stuck with the
Library Editor (creating a new module), because:

(a) the Library Editor window does not expand so there is only a tiny
space to work with.

(b) There does not seem to be a "Footprint Libraries Wizard" in the
Preferences menu.

http://kicad.txplore.com/?p=112

Is this a known issue with macOS ??

I'm thinking that the menu for the Footprint Library Editor is not being
shown at all, and that the menu I'm seeing is the one for eeschema.

I don't seem to be able to close the footprint library editor window either.

Any ideas on how to progress here?

Thanks,
Brendan.

Hi Brendan,

(a) the Library Editor window does not expand so there is only a tiny

It sounds like a bug, but we have not heard about such case before.
Would you please file a bug report [1], so the issue can be tracked and
resolved?

It seems the tutorial has been written basing on the nightly builds and
IIRC the Footprint Libraries Wizard is not available in the stable
release. It will be included in the v5 release.

I'm thinking that the menu for the Footprint Library Editor is not being

I don't seem to be able to close the footprint library editor window either.
Are you sure there are no other windows opened? Perhaps there is a
dialog asking you for input, that would prevent the parent window to be
closed.

Orson
