Hi. Im new in this yahoo groups.
im using new release of Kicad ver.4.0.0.0..
im a bit confused about how to add 3D Models for some footprint that has no 3d models.. globaly..

i got some new and almost complete footprint library and the 3D models from these link:
http://smisioto.no-ip.org/elettronica/kicad/kicad-en.htm http://smisioto.no-ip.org/elettronica/kicad/kicad-en.htm

github link:
https://github.com/engstad/Walter/tree/master/packages3d/walter https://github.com/engstad/Walter/tree/master/packages3d/walter

i downloaded all of 3D models from that site.
But i cant figure out how to add 3D models to each footprint globally..?
i can only add 3D models to selected footprint (in PCBnew) by "Add 3D Shape" in Footprint Properties.
it only work for the selected footprint. when i put same footprint, the 3D Shape Model only show the one that i add 3D models before.

And then i tried with 3D Shape Libraries Downloader in the Preferences menu. I insert github link an default libraries folder, and then i click next. the next dialogue box show empty list, which is theres nothing can be downloaded.

I also tried to insert 3D model file into directory folder manually and still doesnt work.

any idea how to solve this..? thank you..
*sorry for my bad english and grammar

First make sure your KISYS3DMOD variable points to the top level
directory for your 3D models; in pcbnew select Preferences->Configure Paths.

Next, open the footprint editor then select "Set Active Library". Now you
can select "Load Footprint From Library" and when you have selected a
footprint click on "Footprint Properties" then 3D Settings and set the
model, then save the footprint and exit.

Back in pcbnew every time you add that footprint it should be associated
with the 3D model already. However, existing footprints on the board will
not have that association. To fix that, select one of those footprints
to edit, then select "Change Footprint" and select the box to update
all similar footprints on the board.
